Napoleon Hill will be talking about the money making Carnegie Secret that the elite know and have used to gain success throughout this book
He gained this knowledge by studying and being a mentee of Andrew Carnegie for over 20 years
Any person can achieve greatness if they understood the philosophy to success and the steps to achieve it
Its a shame that each new generation tries to find a way to success by trial and error when the principles are clear cut
The principles will be explained in this book, as well as the book Law of Success in 16 Lessons
This book is not only meant to change what you think, but the way you think
Chapter 2: Introduction - Thoughts are Things
TRULY, “thoughts are things,” and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a BURNING DESIRE for their translation into riches, or other material objects.
3 Feet From Gold
One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when you’re overtaken by temporary defeat
Before success comes in anyones life, that person is sure to go through temporary defeat that seems like failure
When defeat overtakes a person, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit, and thats what most do
Some of the most successful people that have ever lived noted that their success came just one step after they felt they were at their breaking point
Success Consciousness
When riches begin to come, they come so quickly and with great abundance that you’ll wonder where they’ve been hiding all these years
When you begin to Think and Grow Rich, you’ll know that riches become from a state of mind
What you need to know from this book is how to create a state of mind that attract riches
As soon as you master the principles of this philosophy, your financial status will begin to improve
Success comes to those that become success conscious and failure comes to those that are failure conscious
The art of this book will help you change from failure conscious to success conscious
Why You Are the Master of Your Fate
We are the masters of our fate because we have the power to control our thoughts
Our brains become magnetized wit the dominating thoughts that are in our minds
Before we can accumulate riches in great abundance, we must magnetize our minds with intense desire for riches
“Whatever a man can bring his mind to conceive and believe, it can achieve”
Chapter 3: Desire - The Starting Point of All Achievement
Allow Yourself No Retreat
Every person that wins at anything must be willing to “burn their ships” and cut all sources of retreat
That is the only way you can be sure of maintaining the state of mind known as a “burning desire to win”; its essential to success
Wishing will not bring riches
Desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning defanant ways to acquire riches, then backing those plans with persistence is what actually brings riches
Desire, or definite of purpose is more than goal setting
Desire is your roadmap to achieving an overall objective
Your goals represent specific steps along the way
Having a desire, or definite purpose for your life, has a synergistic affect on your ability to achieve your goals
As you become better at what you do, you devote all of your resources towards reaching your objectives, become more alert to opportunities, and reach decisions more quickly
Every action you take will ultimately boil down to the question: Will this goal help me reach my desire and overall objective, or won’t it?
6 Ways to Turn Desire Into Gold
The method by which your desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent consists of 6 definite steps:
1. Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire (be definite in the amount)
2. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire
3. Establish a definite date in which you intend to possess the money you desire
4. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once whether you are ready or not to put the plan into action
5. Write a clear concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire and the other previous 4 steps
6. Read your written statement aloud twice daily. Night and Day
If you truly desire money so keenly that your desire is an obsession, you’ll have no difficulty convincing yourself that you’ll acquire it
The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that you’ve convinced yourself that you will have it
These 6 steps don’t call for hard labor, but you do have to have the imagination that the accumulation of money cannot be left to chance or luck
Have that burning desire and believe that you will possess it
The Power of Great Dreams
The world we live in is constantly demanding for new and better things
Behind this demand, there is one quality that you must possess to win: Definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what you want and a burning desire to possess it
A burning desire to be and do is the starting point to where the dreams take off
The turning point of those that succeed usually comes at some crisis in which they are introduced to their “other self”
Note: Dreams, followed by failures, followed by lessons learned, comes then success
Theres a difference between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it
No-one is ready for a thing until they believe they can acquire it
The state of mind must be belief, not mere hope or wish
The power of desire backed by faith itself can accomplish wonders in this world…but you have to believe
“There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge”
Chapter 4: Faith in Your Ability
Visualization of + Belief In = Attainment of Desire
When faith is blended with thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration
The subconscious then translates it and transmits it into infinite intelligence
The following defines the meaning of the words as Napoleon Hill intends them:
Faith means having confidence, trust and an absolute unwavering belief that you can do something
In order to have faith the way Hill intends it, you have to have faith on a subconscious level
Unless you have absolute total confidence and convinced without question, then you don’t have faith
Infinite Intelligence is the part of the human mind that produces “hunches”, flashes of insight, and leaps of logic
The conscious mind receives information through the 5 senses and keeps tracking of what you need for thinking and operating; this is what you use to normally think, reason and plan
The Subconscious mind has access to all the information your conscious mind receives, but doesn’t reason the same, it does not filter, and it does not forget; if information in your subconscious is firmly rooted it can influence the actions of your conscious mind
How to Develop Faith
Faith is a state of mind that may be induced or created by affirmation or repeated instructions of the subconscious mind through the principle of auto suggestion
The repetition of affirmations is like giving orders to your subconscious mind and the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion fo faith, absolute belief that you can do something
The emotions, or the feelings part of thoughts, are what give your thoughts life and action
All thoughts that have been emotionalized (given feeling) and mixed with faith (absolute belief in you ability) begin to immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart
Note this is true with any emotion, positive or negative
Faith is starting part of all accumulation of riches, miracles and all things that science cannot prove
Faith is the only way the force of infinite intelligence can be harnessed and used
The Magic of Self Suggestion
It is a fact that you will come to believe whatever you repeat to yourself whether the statement is true or false
You are what you are because of the dominating thoughts that you permit to occupy your mind
Thoughts that are mixed with any feelings of emotions become like a magnetic thoughts, which attract other similar or related thoughts
The principle of auto suggestion can change characteristics of yourself that are not helpful towards your belief in your desires
The Disaster of Negative Thinking
The subconscious mind makes not distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses
The subconscious will translate into reality a thought driven by fear just like it will translate into reality a thought driven by faith and positivity
When you have faith in your abilities, you must also have faith in your ability to tap into infinite intelligence
Relax your resistance and begin to truly believe in these things
“A Quitter never wins and a Winner Never Quits”
Chapter 5: Auto-Suggestion - The Medium for Influencing the Subconscious Mind
Auto Suggestion is a term that applies to all suggestions that reach your mind through the 5 senses
It is essentially self suggestion
It is the way of communicating between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place and that which serves for the seed of action for the subconscious mind
Although we have this ability of auto-suggestion, many people the majority of time don’t access this ability of auto suggestion
Remember, thoughts alone do not influence the subconscious mind. It is only when you blend it with positive emotions and belief that you will see the change you want
How to Strengthen Your Powers of Concentration
The subconscious mind takes any orders given to it in absolute faith, but the orders have to be presented over and over again through repeated affirmation
Visualize the exact amount of money that you want as if you can see the physical appearance of it and feel it; embrace that emotion
Give this thought to your imagination and make your subconscious mind believe as if you already had it
“Every Adversity, Every Failure, and Every Heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit”
Chapter 6: Specialized Knowledge: Personal Experiences or Observations
There are two kinds of knowledge: General and Specialized
General knowledge is of little use in the accumulation of money
Knowledge will not attract money unless it is organized and directed with practical plans with the specific purpose of accumulating money
Education institutions fail to teach the people how to use the knowledge after it is acquired, which is why people aren’t successful
An educated person is one who has developed the faculties of their mind that he or she may acquire anything they want or its equivalent without violating the rights of others
You Can Get All the Knowledge You Need
Before you can transmute your desire into money, you’ll need specialized knowledge of the service, merchandise or profession that you intend to offer in return for fortune
The accumulation of great fortune calls for power, and power is acquired through highly organized and specialized knowledge
Note: The person that acquires the fortune doesn’t necessarily has to have this specialized knowledge, for they can organized groups of people that have that knowledge and obtain the fortune in the same way
Specialized knowledge is among the most plentiful and cheapest forms of service that may be had
It pays to know how to purchase knowledge and where to find it
As knowledge is acquired, it must be organized and put into use for a definite purpose through practical plans
Knowledge has no value except what can be gained from its application towards some worthy end
Successful people never stop gaining knowledge in the field they are in no matter how long they have been in it
“Happiness is Found in Doing, Not Merely in Possessing”
Chapter 7: Imagination - The Workshop of the Mind
The Imagination is literally the workshop where all plans are created; where the impulse and desire is given shape form and action through the aid of the imaginative faculty of the mind
It has been said that we can create anything that we can imagine
Our only limitation lies within the use of our imagination
There are 2 forms of the imagination: Synthetic Imagination and Creative Imagination
Synthesized Imagination
Through this faculty, you arrange and hold concepts, ideas or plans into new combination
Synthesized imagination does not create anything, but merely works with a material of experience, education and observation by which it is fed
Creative Imagination
Through this faculty, the finite human mind has direct communication with infinite intelligence
All basic and new ideas come from creative imagination
Through this faculty we pick up vibes from other people, and can communicate with the subconscious minds of others
The creative imagination works automatically, but only when your conscious mind is working at a rate that it becomes very perceptive and receptive
Your imagination becomes stronger and more receptive the more you use it
How to Transmute Ideas Into Cash
Riches are never the result from hard work alone, but through definite demands based on the application of definite principles; Never by chance or luck
“Tell the World What You Intend to Do, But First, Show It”
Chapter 8: Organized Planning - The Crystallization of Desire Into Action
Everything we create or acquire begins in the form of desire
Desire begins in the imagination where plans are created and organized
You need a definite practical plan so that you can transform yourself into a person that obtains all of their desires
Basic Instructions For Making Practical Plan:
Ally ourself with a group of people for the creation and carrying out of your plans to accumulate money making use of the mastermind principle (this is a key step)
Be sure you think about what you can offer the person in your group and what they can offer you so that everyone is gaining from this alliance
Maintain perfect harmony between yourself and everyone in your mastermind group; The mastermind principle doesn’t work when perfect harmony doesn’t prevail
Make sure all plans that you have are checked and approved by your mastermind alliance
If you’re first plan fails, try another
This is the area where most people fail, because of their lack of persistence
Temporary defeat is not permanent failure and it only means that there was something wrong with your original plan
Your achievement can only be as good as the plans you make
If you give up before your goal has been reached, you’re a quitter
A QUITTER NEVER WINS AND A WINNER NEVER QUITS
Leaders and Followers
There are two types of people, leaders and followers
Followers cant expect to make as much as a leader, although some followers make the mistake thinking they are
Most great leaders began as followers and became great leaders because they were intelligent followers
The person that cannot follow a leader intelligently cannot become a good leader
The following are important factors of leadership:
1. Unwavering courage based upon knowledge of yourself and your occupation
2. Self Control - the person that cannot control himself cannot control others
3. A Keen Sense of Justice - without a sense of fairness and justice no leader can command and retain the respect of their followers
4. Definite of Decision - those that waiver in decisions show they aren’t sure of themselves and therefore cant lead others successfully
5. Definiteness of Plans - You must plan your work and work your plans
6. The Habit of Doing More Than Paid For - It is a necessity to willingly do more than their followers
7. A pleasing Personality - Leadership calls for respect
8. Sympathy and Understanding - You must understand your followers and their problems
9. Mastery of Detail
10. Willingness to Assume Full Responsibility - Successful leaders must be willing to accept all responsibility for whatever their followers have done and not shift the blame
11. Cooperation - You must fully understand the principle of cooperative effort and induce followers to do the same
There are 2 form of Leadership: 1. With the consent of the followers and 2. By force
Leaders by consent of the followers is the only leadership that can last and be endured
The 10 Major Causes of Failure in Leadership
1. Inability to Organize Details
2. Unwillingness to Render Humble Service
3. Expectation of Pay for What They Know Instead of What They Do With What They Know

7. Intemperance
8. Disloyalty
9. Emphasis of the Authority of Leadership
10. Emphasis of Title

“Conceit envelops a man’s real character beyond his own recognition. It weakens his native ability and strengthens all his inconsistencies.”
Chapter 9: Decision - The Mastery of Procrastination
Lack of decision is near the head of the list of the 31 major causes of failure
Procrastination, the opposite of decision, is a common enemy that everyone must conquer
People who fail to accumulate money without exception have the habit of reaching decisions very slowly and change them quickly and often
Making Your Own Decision
The majority of people that fail to accumulate the money they need are generally easily influenced by the opinions of others
Opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth
If you are too influenced by other peoples opinions you will not succeed in any undertaking
If you are too influenced by others, you will never have your own desire
Close friends and relatives, while not meaning to do so, often handicap a person through their opinions
A lot of people tend to think they know more than what they do
If you talk more than you listen, you may miss a valuable piece of knowledge
The mark of genuine wisdom is modesty and silence
Know What You Want and You Will Generally Get It
Thought backed by strong desire will transmute itself into its physical equivalent
Don’t look for a miracle, but know the eternal laws of nature and use them to your benefit
Those who reach decisions promptly an definitely know what they want and generally get it
Definiteness of decision always takes courage, and sometimes great courage
“No Man Achieves Great Success Who is Unwilling to Make Personal Sacrifices “
Chapter 10 Persistence - The Sustained Effort Necessary to Endure Faith
Persistence is an essential factor in the procedure of transmuting desire into its monetary equivalent
The basis of persistence is the power of will
Will power and desire when properly combined make and irresistible pair that ensure the attainment of their objectives
Your Test of Persistence
Lack of persistence is one of the major causes of failure
It is a weakness common to the majority of people, but it can be overcome with EFFORT
The starting point of all achievement is desire
Weak desires bring forth weak results
Light the fire under your desires so that you can actually achieve them
Are You Money Conscious or Poverty Conscious
To get results, you have to apply these principles regularly, not just for a certain period of time
Poverty Consciousness will seize the mind that is not occupied with Money Consciousness
You have to actively think about being Money Conscious, but you can be idle with no thought and in actually you are Poverty Conscious
Persist Past Your Failures
Those people that you have in your Mastermind group will help you with building persistence
The people that have built persistence will not accept defeat as anything more than something that is temporary
Take Your Own Persistence Inventory
Persistence is a state of mind, therefore it can be cultivated
Persistence is based on these definite causes:
1. Definiteness of Purpose
2. Desire
3. Self Reliance
4. Definiteness of Plans
5. Accurate Knowledge
6. Cooperation
7. Will Power
8. Habit
Measure yourself and see which of these 8 factors you life
The following are characteristics that show lack of persistence and stand between you and your achievements:
1. Failure to Recognize and Define Clearly What You Want
2. Procrastination With or Without Cause
3. Lack of Interest in Acquiring Specialized Knowledge
4. Indecision and the Habit of Passing the Buck
5. The Habit of Relying Upon Excuses Instead of Making Definite Plans to Solve Your Problems
6. Self Satisfaction
7. Indifference
8. The Habit of Blaming Others for Your Mistakes and Accepting Circumstances as Unavoidable
9. Weakness of Desire because You Neglected to Choose Motives That Will Push You To Take Action
10 Willingness to Quit at the First Sign of Defeat
11. Lack of Organized Plans That YOu’ve Written Out So They Can Be Analyzed
12. The Habit of Neglecting to Act on Ideas or Grasp Opportunities When They Present Themselves
13. Wishing Instead of Willing
14. The Habit of Compromising With Poverty Instead of Aiming for Riches
15. Searching for all the Shortcuts to Riches
16. Fear of Criticism Resulting in Failure to Create Plans and Put Them Into Action Because of What Others Might Think, Do or Say
If You Fear Criticism
Many people automatically create excuses all stemming from the fear of criticism
People will always have an opinion or possibly think you are crazy for what you are doing with your life
Never let another person control your emotions
How to Develop Persistence
There are 4 Steps that lead to the habit of Persistence:
1. A Definite Purpose Backed by a Burning Desire for its Fulfillment
2. A Definite Plan Expressed in Continuous Action
3. A Mind Closed Tightly Against all Negative and Discouraging Influences (Including those of friend and family)
4. A Friendly Alliance with One or More Persons that will Encourage You to Follow Through With Plan and Purpose
These 4 steps are essential for success in all walks of life
Make them all habits within your life
“The Latter of Success is Never Crowded at the Top”
Chapter 11: Power of the Mastermind - The Driving Force
Power is essential for success when accumulating money
Power is organized and intelligently directed knowledge
Organized effort is produced by the coordination of effort of two or more people who work toward a definite end in a spirit of harmony
If power is organized knowledge, lets look at the sources of knowledge:
Infinite Intelligence: May be accessed through creative imagination through the subconscious mind
Accumulated Experience: May be found through books and schools where knowledge has been classified and organized
Experiment and Research: In science, people gather, classify and organized knew facts daily
Knowledge can be acquired from any of these sources and can be organized into by power by organizing them into definite plans and putting those plans into action
Gaining Power Through the Mastermind
The mastermind is coordination of knowledge of effort int he spirit of harmony between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose
The two kinds of power that can be gained from the mastermind are:
Economic power
Psychic power (Nothing to do with magic, but of or pertaining to the human mind that you are in tune with one another)
Economic Power
Economic advantages come from any person that surrounds themselves with any group of people that are willing to lend them wholehearted aid in a spirit of perfect harmony
This is the basis of every great fortune
Psychic Power
No two minds never come together without creating a third invisible, intangible force which is like a third mind
The human mind is energy, and when the two minds are coordinated in a spirit of harmony, the energy of each mind picks up on the other mind which constitutes the psychic phase of the mastermind
How to Multiply Your Brain Power
The Human brain is like a battery, and it is a fact that a group of brains puts out more power than a single battery
This is why the mastermind principle is so important
When a group of individual minds are coordinated, the increased energy becomes available to every individual mind in the group
Finding Your Mastermind Members
Align yourself with as many people as you need in order to assemble a mastermind that will assist you with carry out your plans for the accumulation of money
Chose to associate with people who share common value, goals and interest, yet have each a strong desire to contribute to the overall effort
Keep these quality in mind:
The Ability to DO the Job - don’t just select them because their your close friend; make sure they are capable
The Ability to Work in a Spirit of Harmony With Others
Compensating Your Mastermind
Before forming your mastermind alliance, decide what benefits and advantages you can offer members in your group in return for their cooperation
No-one will work forever without compensation nor should they be expected to
Wealth is usually the benefit, but their is also recognition and praise that people profit from
Be sure to think this through because if you don’t you can ruin relationships if people feel taken advantage of
Everyone should benefit from the mastermind alliance
The Mastermind and Infinite Intelligence
When 2 or more people coordinate in a spirit of harmony towards a definite objective they place themselves in position to absorb power from the great universal storehouse of infinite intelligence
This is the greatest source of power
The Power of Positive Emotions
The power of positive emotions in necessary to attract money
Mix this with faith and persistence and the money will be sure to come
Riches have to be attracted, and they are done so through positive emotions
“More gold has been mined from the thoughts of men than has ever been taken from earth”
Chapter 12: Sexuality - Charisma and Creativity
After the primary life sustaining needs are met, Hill believes sexuality and love are the next most important forces in human motivation
Charisma
The world is ruled and the destination of civilization is established by human emotion
People are influenced more by feelings than by reason
The stimuli to which the mind responds most freely are:
1. The desire for sexual expression
2. Love
3. A burning desire for fame power or financial gain
4. Music
5. Close Friendship and or admiration
6. A Mastermind’ alliance based upon the harmony of 2 or more people that ally themselves for advancement
7. Mutual suffering such as that experienced by those that are persecuted
8. Auto suggestion
9. Fear
10. Alcohol and Drugs
Sexual expression is at the top of that list because people seem to do more and have the most persistence in relation to sexual expression
The desire for sexual expression is inborn and natural and should not be suppressed, but its power can be directed in different ways
When harnessed and redirected, this motivational force has been used as a powerful force for literature, art as well as the accumulation of riches
The transmutation of sexual energy means switching the mind from thoughts of physical expression to the thoughts of some other nature - This can be known as some sort of charisma
Developing Your Creative Imagination
A mind stimulant is any influence that will either temporarily or permanently increase the intensity of thought
The previously mentioned 10 major stimulants are most common
The more you use your creative faculty, the more alert and receptive it becomes to factors originating outside your conscious mind
“Success requires no explanations; failure permits no alibis”
Chapter 13: The Subconscious Mind - The Connecting Link
The subconscious mind consist of a field of consciousness in which every impulse of thought that reaches the conscious mind through any of the 5 senses is classified and recorded
The subconscious receive and files impressions or thoughts regardless of their nature
You can plant in your subconscious mind any plan, thought, or purpose that you desire into its physical or monetary equivalent
Those desires that are mixed with emotional feeling and faith in your ability are the ones that are the strongest
The subconscious draws upon infinite intelligence for the power to transmute the desires into their physical equivalent in a way that we typically cannot understand
Ways to plant something into your subconscious are:
1. Formulation and writing out your desire
2. The repetition of positive affirmations
3. The creative visualization of your goal
4. Acting as if the goal is already yours
The subconscious mind is the connecting link between the finite mind of man and infinite intelligence
How to Energize Your Subconscious Mind for Creative Effort
First, you must accept as a reality the existence of the subconscious mind and what it can do for you
You will also understand the importance of making your desires clear and putting them in writing, along with the importance of persistence
Remember, the subconscious mind can be directed only in habit, so be patient with the process
If you do everything within your power to strongly, firmly and with complete faith and conviction plant the idea that you will be successful and achieve your desire, your subconscious will accept and store that idea
If you’ve implanted that idea so strongly, that is the dominant idea in your subconscious, it will influence all the other ideas and information stored there
If you seriously commit to doing these things, it will change the way you think and act
Remember, the subconscious mind is working whether you’re consciously feeding it positivity or not
If you don’t feed your conscious mind with positivity, it will therein feed on things opposite due to your neglect
All thoughts that you want to turn into success and have planted in the subconscious mind must past through the imagination and be mixed with faith, your faith in your own abilities
The mixing of faith with a plan or purpose intended for submission to the subconscious mind can only be done through the imagination
In order to do this, you have to use all 13 principles in this book
Make Your Positive Emotions Work For You
Theres much evidence that only emotionalized thoughts have any real influence on the subconscious mind
Because of this, you must become familiar with the major emotions so that you know how you’re influencing your subconscious mind
There are 7 major positive and 7 major negative emotions
The negative emotions will automatically reach your subconscious without thought, but the positive emotions must be placed there purposefully and directly
The 7 major positive emotions include:
Desire, Faith, Love, Sex, Enthusiasm, Romance, and Hope
There are other positive emotions, but these are the most powerful and most commonly used in creative effort
The 7 major negative emotions include:
Fear, Jealousy, Hatred, Revenge, Greed, Superstition, and Anger
Positive and negative emotions cant occupy the mind at the same time; one must dominate
Form the habit of applying and using positive emotions to the point where negative emotions do not enter your mind at all
“Do Not Expect Troubles, as They Have a Tendency Not To Disappoint”
Chapter 14: The Brain - A Broadcasting and Receiving Station for Thought
Every human brain is Both a broadcasting and receiving station for the vibration of thought
Similar to a radio receiver, every human brain is capable of picking up vibrations of thought that are being released by other brains
This is perceived as hunches, vibes and intuition
When stimulated, the mind becomes receptive to thoughts that reach it from outside thoughts
This is stimulated from positive or negative emotions
A brain stimulated by emotions functions at a much more rapid rate than it does when that emotion is absent
“Great Achievement is Usually Born of Great Sacrifice and is Never a Result of Selfishness”
Chapter 15: The Sixth Sense - The Door to the Temple of Wisdom
This principle can only be applied only by mastering the other 12 principles
The sixth sense is that portion of the subconscious mind that has been refereed to as the creative imagination (hunches or inspirations)
Through the sixth sense, you will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them, and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them
Miracles of the Sixth Sense
Hill doesn’t necessary believe in Miracles because he has full understanding of natures laws and how we are all creators of our own reality
However, some of nature laws are so incomprehensible that they appear to be a miracle
Let Great People Shape your Life
The next best thing to being great is attempting to emulate those that are already great
Find someone that has what you want in life and do your best to emulate them
This will give you the capacity to be successful and make your life easier without having to reinvent the wheel
“The man who actually knows what he wants in life has already gone a long way towards attaining it”
Chapter 16: The 6 Ghosts of Fear - How Many are Standing in Your Way?
In order to master these 13 principles, you must be prepare by eliminating these three things:
Indecision, Doubt and Fear
The Sixth sense will never function if any of these are within your mind
Indecision is the seedling of fear
It crystalizes into doubt and later becomes fear
The purpose of this chapter is to turn the spotlight of attention on the cause and cure of the six basic fears
The Six Basic Fears
At one time or another every person suffers from some combination of these Fears:
Fear of Poverty
Fear of Criticism
Fear of Ill Health
Fear of Loss of Love
Fear of Old Age
Fear of Death
All other fears are minor importance and are just variations
Fear is nothing more than state of mind, and your state of mind is subject to your control and direction
You cannot create anything that you do not first conceive in the form of an impulse of thought
Thought impulses begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent whether they are voluntary or involuntary
Nature has given us ABSOLUTE control over one thing…Thought
The Fear of Poverty
There can be no compromise between poverty and riches
If you want riches, you must refuse to accept any circumstance that leads towards poverty
The two travel on two completely different paths
If you have any instance of accepting poverty in your mind, you might as well prepare yourself to receive poverty
If you demand riches, your thought process will give you that roadmap, and it is up to you to finish that path towards those riches
The fear of poverty paralyzes your ability to use reason, destroys the imagination, kills off self reliance, undermines enthusiasm, discourages initiative, leads to uncertainty of purpose, encourages procrastination, and makes self control a possibility
This is the 1st fear on the list because it is the most difficult to master
Symptoms of the fear of Poverty include:
Indifference, Indecision, Doubt, Worry, Over-caution, Procrastination, Refusing to take Responsibility

The fear of criticism robs people of their initiative, destroys their power of imagination, limits their individuality, and takes away their self-reliance

The Fear of Ill Health
We fear ill health because of the terrible pictures that have been planted in our minds of what may happens if death should overtake us
Its been shown that the fear of disease even when there’s not the slightest cause for fear, often produces the physical of the disease feared
The mind is powerful, it builds and it can also destroy
Symptoms of the Fear of Ill Health:
Auto-Suggestion Looking for Disease, Hypochondria, Mal Exercise, Susceptibility to Real Disease, Self Coddling, Intemperance, The Habit of Reading About Illness and Worrying About Being Stricken By It

Symptoms of Loss of Love include:
Jealousy, Fault Finding Without any Cause, Gambling, Insomnia, Lack of Self Control, Bad Temper
The Fear of Old Age
This fear grows out of two sources:
The thought that old age may bring poverty
The concern that many have with what may await for them in the world beyond
The possibility of loss of freedom and independence also brings upon this fear
Symptoms of the Fear of Old Age Include:
Lack of Enthusiasm, Self Consciousness of Speech, Inappropriate Dress or Action (acting out of your age)
The Fear of Death
This can be brought on by the thought of eternal punishment
Those that are religious seem to have this fear more than so called “heathens”
The entire world is made up of time, space, energy and matter
We know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed
Therefore life can not be destroyed, so death is nothing more than a mere transition
Symptoms of the Fear of Death include:
The Habit of Thinking About Dying Instead of Making the Most of Life, Sometimes the Fear of Death is Closely Associated with the Fear of Poverty, Illness and the Breakdown of the Body, Ill Health, Lack of the Appropriate Occupation, Insanity, Disappointment over Love, Religions Fanaticism
The Disaster of Worry and Destructive Thinking
Worry is a state of mind based upon fear
It works slowly but persistent and destroys self confidence and initiative
Worry is a form of sustained fear caused by indecision, therefore it is a state of mind that can be controlled
If your mind is filled with fear, you not only destroy your own chances of intelligent action, but you transmit these destructive vibrations to all that come into contact with you and destroy their chances too
Your business in life is to achieve success and to be successful you must find peace of mind and attain happiness
The Devil’s Workshop
Susceptibility to Negative Influences can at times be worse than all of the 6 fears
Negative Influences are dangerous because they come in so many different forms (friends, families, media etc)
To protect yourself from negative influences, recognize that your will power is your defense
You must put it into constant use until you’ve built up a strong wall of immunity
The One Thing Over Which You Have Absolute Control
You have absolute control over one thing, and that is your thoughts
This ability to control your thoughts is the sole means by which you can control your own destiny
If you fail to control your mind, you will control nothing else
Protect your mind at all costs
You either control your mind or it controls you
The most practical method for controlling your mind is the habit of keeping it busy with a definite purpose backed by a definite plan
Without this control success is not possible
People who don’t succeed have all the reasons for failure and have air tight alibis to explain away their lack of achievement
